Licences granted within a month and a half

Marbella, May 25, 2004

The Mayor of Marbella, Marisol Yagüe has promised that as from June building licences will be granted within a month and a half, a time the local authority considers as normal to process such an application. The town's new PGOU (town master plan) has been up in the air since 1998 and on top of all that, even the schemes that comply with the 1986 plan (the only valid PGOU according to the Junta de Andalucía) have been waiting for up to four months for a licence. Now the Town Hall has taken on four lawyers, specialising in planning issues, and two architects in order to work through the backlog of licence applications.
